Ready for a challenging trek to the top of Lombok’s iconic volcano? The 2-Day Summit Rinjani Trek is designed for experienced hikers aiming to reach the peak in the shortest time possible.

Starting and finishing in Sembalun Village, this thrilling trek takes you through savannah grasslands, rocky trails, and rewards you with stunning sunrise views over Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, and Segara Anak Lake.

With panoramic landscapes, eco-friendly practices, and expert guides, this trek offers a rewarding challenge for those ready to conquer one of Indonesia’s highest peaks.

 Trail Conditions — What to Expect

Expect long uphill climbs, steep zigzag trails, and sections of loose volcanic sand — especially on the final push to the summit. The trek begins with open savannah grasslands, gradually transitioning into rocky and steeper paths as you gain altitude.
The final ascent to the summit is very steep, narrow, and slippery, but the panoramic sunrise views at the top make every step worthwhile.

This route is physically demanding and is best suited for trekkers with good fitness levels and prior hiking experience.
Please note: This 2-day trek does not include a visit to Segara Anak Lake or the hot springs. These are accessible only on longer itineraries such as the 3-day / 2-night trek via Sembalun or Senaru routes.

  • Standard service, Standard Service uses communal trekking equipment and is ideal for trekkers used to a rustic and basic trekking experience
Detail itinerary of Summit Rinjani Lombok 2 days:
Mount Rinjani 2 Day Trek Summit Itinerary Day 01. Breakfast at base camp Senaru, lunch, and dinner at the mountain.
  • Wake up at 6.00 AM and get breakfast
  • 07.00 AM transfer to Sembalun village for a 45 -60 minutes drive
  • Registration at Rinjani Information Center ( RIC ) 1051m
  • Start the trek to POS 1 ( Pos Pemantauan 1.300 M ) 2 hours walk, take a rest 10 minutes at POS 1
  • Walk to POS 2 for 1 hour ( Pos Tengengean 1.500m ), take a rest 10 minutes
  • Continue to POS 3 ( Pada Balong 1.800m ), a 1-hour walk. Lunch will be prepared at POS 3 and take a rest for 2 hours.
  • Walking up for 3 hours to Crater Rim ( Plawangan Sembalun 2.639m )
  • Dinner and Overnight at Crater Rim Sembalun, and enjoy the sunset and sunrise for the next day.
Mount Rinjani 2 Day Trek Summit Itinerary Day 02. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner at the mountain.
  • Wake up at 02.30 Am, have some light breakfast.
  • Heading Summit Rinjani ( 3.726m ), walking time approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes
  • Enjoy the sunrise from the summit you can see all of Lombok Island, Bali, Sumbawa, and Segara Anak Lake
  • Back to camp to get breakfast and take a resh
  • Walk down the same trail to Sembalun village, take 5 hours to get to Sembalun village
  • Lunch ( fresh fruit and snacks) will be prepared at POS 3 or POS2.
  • Transfer to Senaru, return to Mount Rinjani Trekking office for the 1-hour drive
  • Prepare your luggage and transfer to the next destination ( Bangsal Harbor, Senggigi or Mataram )
  • End of service.

Additional Details

Essential Gear

  • Small backpack (25–30 liters) — ideal for carrying personal essentials

  • Trekking shoes or trail running shoes — comfortable and sturdy for uneven terrain

  • Headlamp — essential for early morning summit climbs

  • Warm jacket — for cold temperatures at higher altitudes

  • Long trekking pants / windproof pants — protect against wind and cold

  • 1 pair of shorts — comfortable during the day in dry season

  • 2 quick-dry T-shirts — one for each day

  • Gloves — for warmth during summit climb

  • Gaiters (optional) — keep dirt and stones out of your shoes

  • Trekking poles / hiking stick (optional but helpful for steep sections)

  • Sunglasses — for strong mountain sun

  • Raincoat — in case of unexpected rain

 

Personal Care & Hygiene

  • Hand sanitizer (highly recommended)

  • Warm hat & buff / scarf — for warmth and sun protection

  • Insect repellent — avoid bug bites

  • Sunscreen / sunblock — protect skin from sun exposure

  • Muscle spray or balm — soothe sore muscles

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues, etc.)

  • Personal first aid kit — for blisters, cuts, or headaches
