Mount Kerinci 3 Day 2 Night Package

Explore the National Park of Sumatra through a 3-day, 2-night trek to Mount Kerinci, Indonesia’s highest volcano. This package is ideal for trekkers who are reasonably fit and looking for a physically demanding adventure.

Day-by-day Breakdown:

Day 1: Arrival & Travel to Basecamp

  • Arrival at Sungai Penuh or Padang: Arrive in Sungai Penuh (nearest town to Mount Kerinci) or Padang. If coming from Padang, take a car or bus to Sungai Penuh.

  • Travel to Kersik Tuo Village: After reaching Sungai Penuh, drive for about 2 hours to Kersik Tuo Village, the basecamp for Mount Kerinci.

  • Check-in at Basecamp: On arrival, check into your accommodation and meet your guide.

  • Safety Briefing & Preparation: Your guide will provide safety instructions, route details, and equipment checks. Any last-minute supplies can be purchased.

  • Acclimatization: Rest and get used to the higher altitude (around 1,500 meters) to avoid altitude sickness.

  • Evening Rest: Enjoy local dinner and relax, getting a good rest for the hike ahead.

Day 2: Trek to Rimba Camp (Camp 1)

  • Morning: After an early breakfast, begin the ascent through dense rainforest, encountering wildlife like monkeys, birds, and butterflies. The trail starts moderate but gets steeper as you approach higher altitudes.

  • Breaks & Lunch: Short breaks along the trail with lunch provided at a designated spot. Rest as needed.

  • Steep Climbing Sections: Post-lunch, the trail becomes more challenging. Keep hydrated and pace yourself.

  • Arrival at Rimba Camp: Reach Rimba Camp at 2,600 meters for rest. Set up tents (if not pre-arranged) and enjoy the surroundings. The evening is for relaxing and preparing for the next day’s summit attempt.

  • Dinner & Rest: Local dinner followed by rest for acclimatization.

Day 3: Summit Attempt & Descent

  • Early Morning Start: Begin the summit push around 2-3 AM to reach the summit by sunrise. This section is steep and physically demanding, so use headlamps and pace yourself.
